Welcome to Holland - Leçon 12

Lesson 12: The Dutch like "DROP", the international students really don't!
* DROP: salted licorice

Sadiques!

You don't know the "DROP"? Honestly, you are not missing out on anything... The brits have "marmite", the australians have "vegemite" and the Dutch also have this speciality that only they appreciate. The best part? They love to feed this to international students and see their reaction! Sadistic!

PS: I looked very smart, studying the faces in this drawing in front of my mirror when my neighbor walked by my window...

Happy Birthday Funmbi !

Do you remember when we roller-skated in the house when
the parents weren't looking

"The floors are really nice in this house, I had apprehensions but overall I'm happy"
"Yes you're right, especially in the corridors"
"We just need to watch out not to damage them"
"But don't worry, I told the girls not to do anything stupid like roller-skate and you know them, they obey!"

Welcome to Holland - Leçon 10

Lesson 10 : The Dutch are (a little bit) cheap

* Non, c'est bon, je n'ai pas besoin d'un coupe de cheveux (à 20€)

Do you remember the installation of the birds
in the Christmas tree every year

This tradition is too complicated to explain, but every year it was a terrible dilemma and great source of tears!

"Do you realise you've been
doing this for an hour?"

Do you remember the toilet paper battles accross the hallway?

Bon oui, chaque famille à ses jeux débiles...
Come on, everybody has their own stupid games...

My latest project: a series of childhood souvenirs turned to cartoons for a birthday present.
We have a tradition at home, with my (horrible) sisters, we write down in a book our favorite souvenirs when we remember them. We always start with "do you remember when".

Do you remember when Marie and Agnès sent the neighbors
flyers to do little jobs and they ended the letters by
"If you are nice you will give us money"

On avait interpreté ça à notre manière... :)

My dad had insisted "You can't ask for a salary for little chores, people will pay you if they want to". We interpreted that a little differently... :)

Do you remember when Marie threw all of
Agnès's clothes in the bath?

What's fantastic about being a student is the possibility to travel, to create your own curriculum, to study in different places! Recently, I've been changing countries every year, so here are the clichés of my "nationalities"
I'm french
I'm doing my BSc in the UK
I'm currently on Erasmus in the Netherlands
